About Me

Meet the trainer! Hello and welcome to my blog! I have had a passion for animals, especially dogs, as long as I can remember. From an early age, I got my start helping my dad raise and train hunting dogs. My first job in high school was cleaning kennels at a local veterinary clinic. Right out of college, I returned to the veterinary industry, working first as a veterinary technician and then as a veterinary practice manager. One thing I noticed early on was that there was a need and lack of qualified dog trainers to assist in not only training basic obedience, but behavioral training as well.

I decided to pursue additional training to become a certified dog trainer in 2007. I offered private lessons and dog classes around my full-time work schedule, but training and dog behavior was always my passion. In January 2019, I began offering puppy training programs in my home which evolved into me leaving the veterinary industry after 15 years and training full-time. After a few years of solely training, I decided I should still put my veterinary technician skills to good use. Two days a week, I work at a local veterinary clinic that has made accommodations for my training camp pups to come to work with me. This has provided the pups an opportunity to practice their commands in a new setting and gain more socialization experience.

In addition to being a certified trainer and veterinary technician, I am an AKC approved evaluator and conduct AKC Canine Good Citizen testing and AKC trick dog evaluations. You can also find me as a pet coach for Task Human, a 1:1 live video chat mentoring platform that allows me to connect with pet owners around the world and provide obedience tips and behavior consultations. I have taught a variety of puppy socialization, basic obedience, and agility classes, as well as private lessons. However, my main focus is puppy training camp. I have partnered with a couple of well respected breeders to offer a “puppy boot camp” for puppies to learn the basics of housetraining, crate training and obedience training before they head to their new families. This has been such a rewarding experience for me to get to see so many happy and well adjusted puppies thriving with their new families while being able to work primarily from home and focus on my family as well.

My family consists of myself, my husband, two children, 2 dogs of our own (Australian shepherd and blue heeler), 3 horses, a flock of chickens and several barn cats. When I am not training dogs, I love gardening, canning, reading and rodeo.

I hope to share some of my experience and tips with you and other pet owners to help create the best relationship possible between you and your pet.

Thanks for visiting my page!

I hope you enjoy it,

Liz
